St. Joe Children's Theatre (SJCT) will instill fundamental childhood growth skills: teamwork, interpersonal communication, reading, comprehension, self-confidence, self-discipline and leadership; while fostering creativity, imagination and a playful curiosity.

The goal of SJCT is to be the community-based performing arts program for youth in Gulf and East Bay Counties.  In keeping with the theme of "bringing community theatre back to the community", SJCT will lead as the choice organization for young talent in the areas of theater arts and stage. The achievement of the goals of producing accomplished entertainers and quality productions will result in enriched family life, strengthened family bonds and build a stronger community.

The operating principles and goals of SJCT are:

To educate young people in all theatre arts including acting, dance, set design and construction, costuming and makeup, the design and use of sound and light systems, and performance direction and production.

To enlighten, educate and empower youth and families through the provision of accessible and affordable family entertainment and entertain families with exceptional theatrical experiences.

To introduce children to other cultures, instill a sense of history and historical perspective, preserve the traditions of the performing arts and enrich our children's cultural life.

To encourage creativity, build leadership and develop a clear understanding of character development both on and off stage.

To promote self-respect and a sense of responsibility to self, family and community.

To teach children to communicate effectively, solve problems creatively, work co-operatively, make and meet commitments, develop self-assurance and independence, and use critical thinking and creative skills.

To provide a constructive leisure-time activity for those who participate in the productions and for those who enjoy productions from the audience.

To create lifelong appreciation among young people who will continue to support theatre, music, dance and related arts as adults.
