Plein Air Painters To Capture Forgotten Coast on Canvas
More than 20 nationally acclaimed artists will gather on Florida's Forgotten Coast in early May to participate in the 5th annual America’s Great Paint Out, May 7-17, 2010. Painters will set up their easels and pull out their brushes to document the landscape and culture of this last vestige of authentic "Old Florida" – the coastal stretch of scenic North Florida between Mexico Beach and Alligator Point.
This year’s event will include exhibits, artist demonstrations, workshops, art sales and a series of public receptions. Art enthusiasts are invited to visit the exhibits and attend the many free special events that occur throughout the 10 day event. View the full event schedule at www.pleinairfl.com or click here for a printable version. Proceeds from the sale of over 300 paintings support the mission of the Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition, a non-profit 501c3 organization, devoted to enhancing the vitality of local communities.
A selection of America’s finest plein air artists will be participating in this year’s event, including Donald Demers, Brett Weaver, Luke Buck, Katie Cundiff, Charles Dickinson, Cynthia Edmonds, Mary Erickson, Sally Evans, Harold Frontz, Tracey Frugoli, James Hempel, Mitch Kolbe, Morgan Samuel Price, Lori Putnam, James Richards, Tom Sadler, Diane Scott, Chuck Marshall, Greg Barnes, Hodges Soileau, and Ken DeWaard.
A luncheon will kick-off the event on Friday, May 7, from 12-1 pm at Local Color Marina in Port St. Joe. The "meet-and-greet" with plein air artists, patrons and event organizers is free and open to the public.
