MBARA Kingfish Tournament Registration and Captains Meeting

This year Kingfish Tournament anglers compete for prizes up to $4,000 for the largest King Mackerel. Other categories have prizes from up to $2,000. Registration is $150 per boat. After being rescheduled due to tropical storm Fay, this year?s tournament will be held Saturday, September 13th. Captains Meeting and registration will be Friday, September 12th at 5:00 central time at the El Governor Motel on Highway 98 in Mexico Beach.

(MBARA) is a not for profit organization dedicated to artificial reef deployment, research and public education. This year Kingfish Tournament anglers can win up to $4,000 for the largest King Mackerel. Other categories have prizes from up to $2,000. This year Prickly Pears Gourmet Gallery in Mexico Beach, is sponsoring a new category - the "Trash King" category for the person who brings back the most trash. Trash is a huge problem on our beaches and the idea is to have the boats bring back all their trash and pick up all they find floating off shore.

This year, we?re pleased to announce that our special guests will be mystery author, Alafair Burke, and Chuck Sambuchino, editor of Guide to Literary Agents. They will join our accomplished faculty for another wonderful year of inspiration and education. Past presenters include, Jim Pascoe, Jim Huang, Margaret Coel, Benjamin M. LeRoy, editor of Bleak House Books; judge and novelist Terry Lewis; poet, novelist and writing professor, Lynn Wallace; literary agents, Mark Ryan and Cricket Pechstein; fiction writer and English professor, Douglas Wells; fiction writer and newspaper columnist, Tony Simmons; novelist, River Jordan; novelist and reporter, S. V. Date; novelist, columnist, and screenwriter, Michael Lister. In addition to covering the elements of craft, we will be hosting the September meeting of the Florida Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America and host the Horror Writers Association. A new Reader?s Corner will take place on Friday evening. Sign up to read your work at a literary reception.
